Stokes sang original songs relating to her high school experience. “When I feel something that really impacts the way I see, I just write it down,” Stokes said.

 Thousands of people gathered for a march through the streets of downtown St. Louis on Friday to protest a court's not guilty verdict in the case of Jason Stockley, a police officer who fatally shot a black motorist, Anthony Lamar Smith, in 2011. The protests culminated in rocks flying through the windows of the St. Louis mayor's house and riot police breaking up the protests with tear gas, batons and pepper spray.
